Understand the impact of your support
Read Joanne’s story – a remarkable example of the Raine Study’s impact. Back in 1989, Joanne* was 28 years old and 18 weeks pregnant. Along with almost 3000 other pregnant women, she participated in a research study which provided data from her prenatal ultrasounds. Little did she realise that her contribution, along with that of her unborn child, would significantly impact the future of prenatal care. The data showed the safety of repeated pregnancy ultrasounds, resulting in the adoption of international standards.
Fast forward to today, and Joanne is now 63. She has taken part in 12 follow-up sessions. Her child, Amanda*, is now 35 and has also contributed 18 times. Amanda’s daughter, Jess*, aged 6, has already participated in her first Raine Study assessment plus an additional vision study.
This multi-generational study involving Joanne, Amanda and Jess supply valuable biological and lifestyle data for global research.
Maintaining this momentum into later generations relies on ongoing funding. Help us maintain our data for generations to come, and contribute to research in areas such as sleep, glaucoma, immune function, respiratory health, pain and cardiometabolic disease and obesity. As Joanne says, “One of us could change your life”.
